April 8, 2025by Muhammad Muneeb

In a strategic move to fortify the regulatory awareness and compliance capabilities of private sector entities, Dubai Chambers has successfully concluded a series of eight legal workshops designed to support businesses in navigating the UAE’s evolving legal and economic landscape.

The initiative aligns with Dubai’s vision of becoming a global hub for business and innovation, offering companies targeted guidance on key legal and operational topics. Over 260 participants from diverse sectors attended the workshops, which were conducted in collaboration with leading law firms and consultancies.

Key Themes and Highlights

Corporate Tax & Financial Compliance:

Two workshops addressed the UAE’s new corporate tax framework, focusing on compliance essentials, free zone regulations, and necessary financial statement adjustments for 2024. Co-organized with Eman Al Rifai Advocates and Al Tamimi & Company, these sessions provided clarity on implementation timelines and sector-specific tax implications.

Cybersecurity in the Digital Age:

Given the rising threat of cybercrime, a dedicated session in partnership with Kreston ME Consulting and Galadari Advocates tackled the Dubai Cybersecurity Strategy, legal obligations under federal law, and risk mitigation for digital platforms.

Digital Trade and E-Documentation:

Co-hosted by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC-UAE) and Fichte & Co Legal, one workshop delved into the Model Law on Electronic Transferable Records, reinforcing the UAE’s leadership in trade digitalisation and the use of legally recognized electronic trade documents.

Employment Law and Workplace Compliance:

With input from Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, a session on employment regulations explored legal obligations, workplace grievance mechanisms, and compliance with evolving labor laws.

Business Expansion for Chinese Companies:

A Mandarin-language session in collaboration with Al Tamimi & Company guided Chinese investors through the legal and tax frameworks for setting up businesses in Dubai, reinforcing the emirate’s appeal to global investors.

Bounced Cheques and Debt Recovery:

Workshops in collaboration with Clout Consultancy and Hamdan Al Shamsi Lawyers offered practical insights into managing commercial disputes, reducing non-payment risks, and ensuring proper documentation in business transactions.
